Circle of Life

By Walkin' Jim Stoltz

       G                                      C                     G                          D
1)  A song is like a thread woven into string, Twisted and tied to everything.
         G                                C                      G        D     G
Time has shown, nothing stands alone,  All Nature in it sings.

2) The clouds build up and the rain falls down,
    Feeds the rivers, ocean bound.
Each wayward stream flows forth a dream, an endless dancing sound.

                           C                            D                   C                          D
Chorus:     It's a circle of life we're a-livin'.     It's a circle every which way.
                              G                          C             G              D          G
There's a lesson there for the givin',   So go on and give it away

3) It's a wonderful world in which we dwell,
Treat her right and she keeps you well.
Don't step astray of nature's way,
In the long run she can tell.
    (Repeat Chorus)

4)  It's a planet of blue with islands of green,
Let's cherish this Life and all it means.
Each death and birth brings to this Earth
    A whole Circle comin' clean.
    (Repeat Chorus)

5)The wind takes a seed and away she blows
Where she stops no one knows.
Until shes bound to a little piece of ground
And the life within her grows.
    (Repeat Chorus)

By Walkin' Jim Stoltz

      G                                                 C   Am
1) It seems like a month since I've been gone
       C                D                           G
Walkin' my own lone, wayward way,
   G                                                           C           Am
Though each mile brings me closer back to you, my love,
     C                        D                            G
Sometimes these feet seem made of clay.

                            C                            D
Chorus:   'Cause I love you like these mountains,
                            G                    Em
              Always standing in my dreams
                         C             D                   G
Each sunrise is calling out your name,
           C                       D                          G                  Em
And I love you like the river stretchin' toward the open plain
    C                        D        G Em     C                      D        G
I love you like the fallin' rain,     Love you like the fallin' rain.

2) Though the trail be overgrown, and rough and rocky,
And I'm pelted by the snow and freezin' rain,
There ain't nothing that's going to stop me,
From makin' my way home to you again.
    (Repeat Chorus)
               C                   D                 G
Bridge:   Our love was born on the mountain
               C                   Am           D
Tested in the dry desert wind,
                   C                      D                    G     Em
Tempered by that cold Montana winters
                C                     Am                           D
Sealed with the spring come 'round again.

Once In A While, You'll Find  A Friend

by Walkin' Jim Stoltz

     G                                              C
1.  December days, bring the winter snows,
                                 G                                      D
There's ice on the river, but the water still  flows.
                                     C                                      G
There's a hawk a-screamin', from her  skylit throne
                                    D                                       G
With that mountain wind, come to carry you home.

                 G            C                             G
Chorus:  Once in a while, you'll find a friend
                                       D                               G
Where the memories meet at the rainbow's end,
                               C                                  G
Though life goes on, I'm glad for the thought
                              D                                     G
Of the gift you gave, and the peace you brought.

2.  I walked with you, you walked with me,
Through all the changes, these years have seen
With your smile dropped here, and a kind word there,
From your gentle heart with your songs to share.
                (Repeat Chorus)

3.  And now we've touched what friendship binds,
The memories last and live through time,
Ashes to ashes, and dust to dust,
Another legend dies, another voice is lost.
                       (Final Chorus)

Just One Mosquito

By Walkin' Jim Stoltz

                                 C     D           G
Chorus:  There was just one mosquito,
                      C                  D          G
I'm sure you'd be happy to know.
            C                  D                         G                 Em
And I'm really quite glad, You know , it wasn't all that bad,
                                              C    D          G
'Cause there was just one mosquito.

                             G
1) But there were blackflies by the thousands
                                             D
And they'd swarm around my head.
                                                                                 G
They'd crawl on up my nostrils, At least they were well fed.
     G                                                       C
The no-see-ums and giant horseflies tried to carry me away,
              D                                D7           D                         G
But the biggest threat was never met,  they never came into play.

           (Repeat Chorus)

2) There were rattlesnakes by the dozens,    They'd slither around my feet,
They'd squiggle into my sleeping bag,  For an instant rise in heat.
There were tarantulas and scorpions under each and every rock,
And every morning I'd start out by shaking them from my socks.

           (Repeat Chorus)

3) It was hot and dusty travelin', a hundred and four in the shade,
And if I found a tree every 25 miles, I'd think I had it made.
I had blisters the size of coffee-cups, On each and every heel.
My face it was so sunburned,  It was red as an apple peel.
            (Repeat Chorus)

4) There were sandstorms every day, and twisters every night,
The springs were full of scummy things  And cowflop, what a sight.
There were lightning storms & thunder,  Rain, how it would pour.
And every time a bird flew by, he'd drop me a something more!

             (Repeat Chorus)

                Gulp, gulp, gulp, She's gone!

2.  Oh, the little fawn, she is so cute,
With her bambi eyes and her spotted suit,
She prances through the meadow without a care,

No one can replace him, no, no, none,
He's a most  special man because he carries a gun.

The Appalachian Trail

By Walkin' Jim Stoltz

        G                         Bm       C                        G
1) Down at Springer Mountain I learned a thing or two,
     G                         Em           C                         D
Just a greenhorn city boy, starting out brand new,
                   C               Bm                    G                  Em
I'd been feeling disconnected, kind of lost along the way,
           G                            Bm                      C                     D
But the first step that I took, found me coming home that day.

                        C              Bm             G             Em
Chorus:  The Appalachian Trail was where it all began,
              C                            Am         C                     D
That's where this boy first learned, to call himself a man,
   C              Bm                         G                          Em
It was the wind that taught me how to spread my wings,
  C             Am                     D                 G
It was the path, that led me on to other things.

2) It's funny how just spirit will see you through hard times,
The blisters pain and freezin' rain, and frozen boots were mine,
I look back now and think of how I could have thrown it in,
But the one who stands before you now, just never would have been.

            Repeat Chorus

3)  I still spend my days out walkin' with the wind,
Now there's silver in my beard, my hair is gettin' thin,
They say life is a circle and we'll all come 'round again,
If that's so, I'm looking for my Appalachian friends.

            Repeat Chorus

1) They call me the walkin' man, 'cause I get out when I can,
      D                              C               D
Out where ol' Ma Nature's singin' free,
       D                                    C
From the peaks to the desert sand,
  G                          D       D       C          G                   D
I'll wander cross this land, If it's wild, it's all the same to me.

                             D                      C            D
Chorus:        Listen to that mountain lion screaming,
          D                  C                    D
Listen for that river's solemn song,
         D                C                     D
Settle down in touch with the season,
                       D                               A                       D
Let the wind take your heart, and come along.

2) Well, I get up with the sun and before my day is done,
I've walked a path that's all of my own.
Just like a wolverine, I'm long and I'm lean,
My heart beats with the wild wind's moan.
                    (Repeat Chorus)

3) I'm not afraid to say I know I walk a different way,
I guess you'd call me Mother Nature's child,
Got to see it while you can,
Change is sweepin' o'er this land,
They're buryin' everything that is wild.

Bridge:     D                         C               G                    D
Somewhere along the line, oh we have to take the time,
                          D              C            D
To touch something alive and true.
                                                  C               G              D
Feel the Earth beneath your feet, the planet's heart beat,
                         C                                  A
There's a river flowin' deep inside of you.
                (Final Chorus)

1)  I'm a man of the mountains and it ain't no jive

Me, oh my, what could it be. It was a big fat man  on an ATV!

3)  I've been around and I've seen some sights
But the one comin' at me filled my head with fright
Chartreuse trousers and pink golf shoes,
And revving' his engine like them bikers do
    (Repeat Chorus)

4) From his mouth there hung a cigar,
His belly was a-hangin' on his handlebars
Each bump he hit it was quite a show,
Cause he'd shake and he'd shimmy like a bowl of jello!
    (Final Chorus)

Follow Your Heart

By Walkin' Jim Stoltz

   G                                                  C                        D
1) In this life that we're a-living with all its twists and turns,
          C                    Am                     C                      D
It's so easy to lose our way, forget the lessons we have learned,
              C                       D           G                   C
But the road that leads us on will always bring us back,
                   G                      C             Am                           D
Once you've walked your own trail, and stepped in your own tracks.

2) Truth is a word, but it's so often hard to find,
Searchin' through the mirrors offered up by time,
To face it on your own, and to look it in the eye,
Will take all you have to give, but ain't it worth the try.

                C                D      G                 C
Chorus:  Follow your heart, that's where to begin
    G                             Em                   C                      D
Chase down those dreams and go a-dancin' with the wind.
     C                                                          G
Listen to the love that you find along the way,
    D                         Am        C             D   G
Let your light shine in, and sing your life away.

3) Listen to the song of the Earth as she turns,
Bask in the life of the sun as she burns,
Seek out the power in your own minds eye,
Listen to your heart, it'll teach you by and by.
      (Repeat Chorus)
