A long-distance hiker, adventurer, author, painter, photographer, poet, wilderness activist, musician, songwriter, and troubadour for the Earth, Walkin’ Jim spent his life working to share the value of wild places. His legacy is carried on through his music, the Wild Wind Foundation, and the Kid for a Wild Scholarship.

Our mission is to continue in the forever wild spirit of Walkin’ Jim Stoltz by supporting opportunities for young people to access the outdoors in ways that foster a connection with others, themselves, and the natural world.

The Kid for a Wild Scholarship

The Kid for the Wild Scholarship is a tribute to the memory and vision of Walkin’ Jim Stoltz and his “kid for the wild” spirit. This scholarship provides the opportunity for youth ages 12-18 to experience the outdoors in ways that may change their lives. The scholarship is awarded twice a year in the spring and fall and is currently accepting applications.
